A car immobiliser is a security device that prevents the engine from running unless the right conditions are met. Most cars sold in the UK since the late 1990s already have a factory immobiliser that checks for a chip in the key.
The problem is that thieves have learned to beat the key. A relay attack copies the signal of a keyless fob from inside your home. Key programming tools plug into the diagnostic port and create a new key in minutes. In both cases the factory immobiliser sees a “valid” key and lets the car start.
An aftermarket immobiliser adds a second, independent layer that the thief does not expect and cannot satisfy with a key.
Open the Rubikas app and block the engine with one tap. A parked car cannot be started until you lift the block. If you get a tow, tamper or jammer alert in the middle of the night, you can act straight away instead of hoping for the best.
With the fingerprint module, every driver scans a registered fingerprint before driving. If an unregistered person tries to start the car, the engine block steps in automatically and you are notified at once. A cloned or stolen key is no longer enough.
In normal use the block engages when the ignition is switched off. Once the car is parked, it cannot be started again by anyone you have not authorised.
In an emergency, such as a theft in progress, the engine can also be stopped while it is running. Whether this is available depends on how the system is connected in your car, and your installer will confirm it when the system is fitted.
